Our Process

  1. Chicken bones from the rotisserie chicken are pressure-cooked in a pot of water for 4 or more hours, until they are soft enough to be easily mashed between our fingers.

  2. The resulting bone broth and softened bones are placed into the pressure cooker.

  3. Mixed vegetables (sometimes fresh, sometimes frozen, and sometimes a mix) are added.

  4. Cooked chicken is added.

  5. Rice is added.

  6. The mixture is pressure-cooked for approximately 15–18 minutes.

  7. After cooking, we mix in our supplements:

    • Vitamin E

    • Coconut oil

    • Fish oil

    • Kelp

  8. Once cooled, we stir it together and plate the dog food, then occasionally we top it with goat milk or yogurt. Meals are cooled, portioned, and served alongside kibble.

Just as our dogs are raised as part of our family, they are fed as part of our family.

Twice a day, we prepare fresh meals in our kitchen using chicken, rice, vegetables, bone broth, and carefully selected supplements. Meals are portioned according to each dog's age, size, and needs, then paired with quality kibble.

Kibble Supplement

In addition to their fresh-cooked meals, our dogs have access to fresh water and kibble throughout the day. We currently feed Purina Dog Chow Complete Adult as a supplement to our home-prepared meals.

Over the years, we have experimented with a variety of premium and specialty dog foods. While some of those options worked well, our dogs consistently preferred this kibble and have continued to thrive on it.

Every dog is different, and what works well for one may not work well for another. While chicken sensitivities can be common in some dogs, we have not experienced that issue within our pack. In fact, some of our dogs—especially Greta—strongly prefer chicken-based foods and often choose them over other protein options.

Rather than following trends, we focus on what keeps our dogs healthy, maintains good body condition, supports digestion, and allows them to enjoy their meals day after day.

Favorite Treats

In addition to their daily meals, our dogs enjoy a variety of treats, including:

A Note About Feeding

Every dog is different. Portions are adjusted based on age, activity level, body condition, and individual needs. Puppies, adults, nursing mothers, and seniors all have slightly different nutritional requirements, and we feed accordingly.

Why We Do It

Preparing food this way allows us to incorporate fresh ingredients into our dogs' daily routine while maintaining consistency from meal to meal. It's one of the many ways we invest in the health and well-being of the dogs who call Citrus Grove home.
